      • Ash Wednesday (Feb. 22) and Good Friday (April 6) are days of universal fasting and abstinence. Fridays of Lent are also days of abstinence. Abstinence is to be observed by all Catholics, 14 years and older. On days of abstinence, no meat is allowed. Note: When health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not apply. Fasting is observed by all Catholics who are 18 years of age, but not yet 59 years of age. Those bound by this rule may take only full meal. Two smaller meals are permitted as necessary to maintain strength according to one's needs, but eating solid foods between meals is not permitted. During the season of Lent, we are called to embrace penances and to perform works of charity that reflect our willingness to conversion of heart. Let us all pray fervently for those Catechumens and Candidates who will celebrate the Easter Sacraments with us this year. May this Lent lead us all to a deeper union in Christ with one another.

      • The 2012 Archbishop's Annual Appeal is now underway. Parishioners who pledged in 2011 should have received a mailing from Archbishop Gregory asking for a pledge to the 2012 Archbishop's Annual Appeal. The appeal not only funds the operations of the Archdiocese, it funds services that are of great help to the ministries here in our parish. This year, the theme of the Appeal is "Do Everything For The Glory Of God." God gives us all that we have. As we contemplate His gifts to us, we should also reflect on our gratitude for these gifts. Your financial support for the work of our parish, of our Archdiocese and the Church through the world is, in fact, one way to give Him glory and express your gratitude. After we reach our parish Annual Appeal goal of $70,201, the Archdiocese returns 100% of each additional dollar received from our parishioners to use in our parish. Last year we received $32,907 in rebates. Please answer the Archbishop's request and make a generous pledge.
      • We have changed the date of Confirmation to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Archbishop Gregory will be the celebrant.
